SUMMARY:Madame Marlowe
DESCRIPTION:Madame Marlowe return to Westside Bowl with Dream the Heavy\, Cokeworks\, and Old Neon on Friday\, August 2. \nDream the Heavy is a genre-fluid yet rooted in alternative rock band. It is a live show that is as charismatic and captivating as it is danceable and moody. Well-crafted songs are performed by musicians who know their craft. \nCokeworks is rust belt emo band on the Ohio River combining indie rock\, pop punk\, and midwest emo as a little treat. cokeworks takes their name from the abandoned coke works plants scattered throughout the Ohio Valley. A re-appropriation of sorts\, cokeworks are an outlier in rust belt culture\, progressive & disruptive by nature\, combining their favorite subversive genres to create something wholly new. \nOld Neon is a pop punk band from Pittsburgh PA formed in 2021 that bring their eclectic tastes into a lively show and have become a staple in Pittsburgh’s modern pop punk/emo scene\, with a growing presence around the northeastern US. \nTickets $12 in Advance$15 Day of. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Your Tickets Now

SUMMARY:Igor & The Red Elvises
DESCRIPTION:Head to Westside Bowl on Sunday\, August 4 for Igor & The Red Elvises. \nIgor Yuzov was born in Germany\, raised in Ukraine and studied in Russia. He grew up in the former Soviet Union\, where folk music was the norm and rock’n’roll was illegal. A rebellious streak\, led him to seek out the forbidden music. As soon as it became possible\, Igor left Russia for America with his “Folk’n’Roll” band Limpopo\, and was personally greeted by Ronald Reagan. In 1993\, Limpopo won Ed McMahon’s Star Search and their popularity began to blossom. In 1995\, Igor dreamed that Elvis Presley came to him and told him to start playing rock’n’roll. Igor and his Russian friends became Red Elvises and gave street performances on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. As their crowds grew larger\, the City of Santa Monica ordered them to discontinue their street performances. Evolving over the years\, Igor’s music has been labeled “Siberian Surf Rock” which contains humorous lyrics and grooves that forces his audience to dance. Over the past 20 years\, Red Elvises have constantly toured all over the world with occasional breaks to record new music and to participate in film and television projects. \nAs an independent band\, Red Elvises have produced 12 studio albums\, two live albums\, a live concert DVD\, and a Greatest Hits compilation. Some of their most notable film contributions include music and or performances in “Six String Samurai”\, “Mail Order Bride”\, “Armageddon”\, “Skippy”\, “Melrose Place”\, “Fastlane”\, “Penn and Teller’s Sin City Extravaganza”\, “VH-1 Behind the Music”\, and “MTV”. Red Elvises have performed for large festivals\, private parties\, and played on massive stages such as 2005’s Live 8 Benefit Concert. No matter where they perform\, Igor & Red Elvises always bring the party with them.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Your Tickets Now

SUMMARY:Jeromes Dream
DESCRIPTION:Jeromes Dream was born in 1997 as a result of personal uncertainty\, instability\, loss\, and rage. Jeff Smith (bass\, vocals) Nick Antonopoulos (guitar)\, and Erik Ratensperger (drums) created an aural violence in their dynamic and unpredictable songs. At that time\, bands like Orchid\, Reversal of Man and pageninetynine were making similarly polemic music. But JD carved its own path and helped to define the subgenre that would come to be known as emo-violence. \nThe band set itself apart with an enigmatic and visceral approach to hardcore that was markedly different from the other music of its day\, culminating in the release of their last record\, Presents\, in 2001. That same year\, JD hung it up and moved on to pursue other personal projects\, and after 17 years\, the three friends gravitated back toward the shared belief that JD was a sacred space for them to wholly express themselves. \nJoin us on Monday\, August 5\, with Knumears\, New Forms\, and DAGGRS as support! \nTickets $15 in advance\n$20 Day Of Show \nDoors at 7 PM\nMusic at 8 PM\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Your Tickets Now

SUMMARY:Scott H. Biram
DESCRIPTION:Scott H. Biram heads to Westside Bowl with Leo D’Angelo on Thursday\, August 8. \n Scott H. Biram\, a proud Texan raised on the outskirts of Austin\, is a maverick in the tradition of Doug Sahm\, Rocky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators) and Gibby Haines (Butthole Surfers). Shortly after releasing his third record (2003’s Lo-Fi Mojo)\, the 287-year-old’s life was nearly cut short after a near-fatal head-on collision with a big rid semi. He was still bedridden when he made his Rehabilitation Blues EP\, the predecessor to his 2005 debut for Bloodshot Records\, The Dirty Old One Man Band. \nFlash Forward to 2022. After almost thirty years of tirelessly writing\, recording and touring the front and backroads of America as a solo bluesman\, collecting a wide array of critical accolades\, Biram found himself suddenly stopped cold by the pandemic. Once again\, unwilling to allow outsized forces slow him down\, he took advantage of the shutdown to write\, record and produce nine new songs and two traditional covers for his new album\, The One & Only Scott H. Biram\, his 13th overall and 9th for Bloodshot Records. \n“I’m constantly trying to go back to the junky\, lo-fi sounds of my early records\,” says Biram. “But it’s harder to do now. The more you learn about production\, the harder it is to convey that genuine unproduced feeling. I have to compromise between overproduced and lo-fi\, so it sounds pro\, but still keeps that grittiness.” \n“I tend to be all over the place. My brain’s restless. If something interests me\, I’ll write a song about it. IU have kinda rootsy\, blue collar approach with blues\, country and folk\, but I always throw in some of my heavier influences from metal and hard rock. I consider myself a singer and guitarist\, above everything else.” \nThe music on The One And Only Scott H. Biram as the down home\, in-your-face feel that Biram is noted for. “No Man’s Lan” opens with a blues turnaround played on a twanging electric guitar\, backed by a stomping bass and drum backbeat. Biram growls out a lyric\, describing the hazards of growing up poor in a small Texas town\, breathing the fumes from oil wells and brush fires. “I was remembering a bumper sticker I saw as a kid that said\, ‘Oil Field Trash and Proud of It!” \n“My music has a lot of aggression to it. I express myself without holding back. If you mixed Muddy Waters\, Bill Monro9e\, Jerry Reed\, and Black Flag\, you’d have a good idea of my sound. It’s pink\, blues\, country\, metal\, bluegrass and dirty.” \n“Inside a Bar” captures the feel of an empty saloon on a slow Monday night. It’s a straight-forward country blues\, with an understated vocal\, intensified by an impressive solo\, that mimics the tones of a pedal steel guitar. “I was going for the sound of loneliness and alcoholism colliding.” \nOther notable tracks include “Sinner’s Dinner\,” a rootsy rock tune that gives us Biram’s take on the riot of January 6; “Dig A Hole/Big Liar”\, a Chicago blues track with a shredding electric guitar solo that zooms from speaker to speaker; a down and dirty southern gospel style take on Leadbelly’s “Easy Rider\,” with a funky rhythm and background whoops and hollers that suggest the reactions of a packed Baptist tent revival\, and an acoustic take on “Death Has No Mercy\,” the blues standard made popular by the Rev. Gary Davis. \nThe most unexpected sound is “InterTransmissions\,” a short jarring burst of noise\, feedback and sound effects. “I loved the Butthole Surfers and a lot of psychedelic music when I was comin’ up\,” Biram says. “I wanted to lean into that and add some color to the album. I don’t think I’ll ever actually do it on stage\, unless I’m just pushing a button on a sampler. Excessive loops and samples are not really my go-to style.” \nThe songs on the album deal with mortality\, romance\, religion\, drinking and memories of the past\, but it’s difficult to identify an overarching theme. “I studied art in college\, so I think of my albums as collages. I grew up play8ing in punk\, metal\, blues\, country and bluegrass bands\, so I throw in a bunch of stuff to see what resonates. I’ll follow a heavy blues tune with a tender long song\, just the way life is\, no one theme. I’m not tryna write a rock opera. Most of the time\, I’m just getting’ shit off my chest.” \nBiram’s albums and EPs are a separate entity from the sound he gets on stage. “I have a wall of speakers behind me\, a big subwoofer\, old beat up hollow-body guitars\, harmonicas\, and an amplified stomp board to provide a heavy back beat. I sing in several different kinds of voices and my solid sound really fills the room. I don’t use loops\, but in the studio\, I sometimes overdub bass\, guitar\, drums\, tambourine and percussion. Other times\, I dumb it down and just do what I do on stage.” \nBiram grew up in San Marcos\, Texas. “My dad played sax a little bit around the house. My uncles played guitar together in a band. There were always guitars and pianos around. I messed around with ’em\, but didn’t get serious about playing and songwriting until high school. I sand and wrote lyrics in a punk-metal band. We played in local bars for free beer\, and any attention we could get from the local chicks. That was cool enough for us back then. My dad turned me on to Doc Watson and Leadbelly early on. I inherited my great-grandfather’s banjo when I was 19\, and I started doing solo acoustic shows on the side. All that while I was still rockin’ out in the punk band. Those acoustic shows morphed into a bluegrass band\, but I still did solo stuff on the side\, stomping my foot on the floor and developing a more aggressive guitar approach. Sometime around 2000\, I realized I could consolidate the folk roots with my heavier stuff and offer something tthat was truly my own. The Scott H. Biram One Man Band was born. \nI never liked being called a singer/songwriter\,” says Biram\, “but those are some of my best qualities. I don’t want people to think I’m a ‘fool on a stool\,’ which is what I imagine comes into people’s heads when they hear ‘singer/songwriter.’ I try to steer clear of that\, when I can.” \nWith The One & Only Scott H. Biram\, the singer once again proves himself to be an unstoppable force\, refusing to bow in the face of outside challenges and demonstrating a unique ability to live up to the traditions of a rough-hewn\, individualistic Texas-born music.\, He looks forward to returning to tour the highways and byways of America throughout 2024.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Your Tickets Now

SUMMARY:Stacked Like Pancakes
DESCRIPTION:Stacked Like Pancakes head to Youngstown with Crash Nebula\, Wednesday Demonstration\, and Fine Young Men on Friday\, August 16. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 day of show. \nstacked like pancakes (slp) is a hugely energetic ska-punk/rock band.\nbeginning in 2007\, stacked like pancakes was founded on an idolization of artists like reel big fish\, streetlight manifesto\, and less than jake. following the 2011 debut ska album we’re not insane\, slp has since proven to maintain a thick sonic texture through a synthesis of inspirations including reel big fish\, less than jake\, blink-182\, green day\, foo fighters\, cage the elephant\, twenty one pilots\, and an untraceable amount of other artists and genres.\nstacked like pancakes found their niche in music festivals beginning with a supporting role opening for kid cudi at towson university’s tigerfest in 2012.\nin 2014\, slp won the ernie ball battle of the bands competition\, earning their first appearance on the vans warped tour. the following year began with a sold out baltimore show for their fan-funded 2015 sophomore album entitled this is us. \nthe invitation to return to the warped tour sparked a love for the road. during this stretch of time\, slp embarked on several self-booked headlining tours\, and in 2016 hit the road on their first official nation-wide tour with ska idols reel big fish. \non the anniversary of election day for the 45th president of the united states in 2017\, slp released a triumphant new song called “45” with a poignant feature on alternative press. \nthe pancake nation community fanbase is hungry for their band to grow. their unwavering support includes three successful crowdfunded albums. the most recent of which raised over $100\,000 to work with multi-platinum record producer matt squire for the release of strange creatures in 2019.\nconcert venues and music patrons alike should be prepared for the stage to shake\, the crowd to be wild and unpredictable\, and the show to be a deliberate fusion of spontaneity and precision. stacked like pancakes epitomizes a tough diy band despite a meaningless band name\, and are rightfully on the rise to claim an international stage of their own.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Your Tickets Now

SUMMARY:The Battle
DESCRIPTION:The Battle heads to Youngstown with The Long Hunt\, Uncanny Valley\, and Admiral Dot on Friday\, August 23. Tickets $10 in advance and $12 day of show. Doors at 7 PM\, Music at 8 PM. \nThe Battle are an alternative rock band from Cleveland\, Ohio. Brothers and band founders Donne (drums) and Ron Copenhaver (guitar) started the band in 2016 with Chris Shaheen (guitar) and Tom Nemo (bass) to begin work on an instrumental project that would later become the band’s first release. The Battle’s take on post-rock in a meld of traditional post-rock with alternative rock and desert rock. This unique blend takes them where few post-rock outfits dare to go: heavy riffs and booming rhythm sections. \nThe band’s captivating live shows carry audiences on a dynamic\, emotional journey\, with few words spoken by the band. Each song flows one to another for an orchestrated\, unrelenting experience. Like the best of post-rock\, the band can be as quiet and subtle as they are loud and forceful. \nTheir first release\, Truth\, Like Light\, Blinds (2017)\, is an evocatively dark and hopeful album filled with inventive post-rock guitar and a looming desert rock rhythm section. The band’s follow up effort\, The Last Place On Earth (2019)\, recorded in Joshua Tree\, pushes their style of rock further into uncharted blends of desert rock riffs and post-rock ambience. The band’s forthcoming release\, Degenerate Era\, was released in July 2021 and showcases the band’s most aurally rich and complex arrangements. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Your Tickets Now
