On Friday, May 10, join us for a night of bluegrass and country folk, the kind you like to throw a few drinks back to. Nick Black and Born On The Porch head to Westside Bowl.
Originally from Charleston SC, at a young age, Nick always knew he wanted to play music and be great at it. Inspired by his dad’s musical hero, Jimi Hendrix, Nick (also a leftie) started playing guitar, and as he grew, he learned more about himself the music he wanted to play and, more importantly, the music he wanted to write. Nick has been performing cover gigs for about 10 years. During those shows, he would sneak in a few of his own songs, and they were always met with positive feedback and sometimes even tears. Nick’s music and personality connect so easily with people. He puts everything he has into his music because it’s what he loves, and he wants others to love it, too. He now lives in Wilmington, NC, with his wife, 4 dogs, and cat. Here, he has a very loyal and ever-growing fan base. They call him the next Tyler Childers.
Born On The Porch is a Youngstown-based Bluegrass band with three core members who bring fast picking and three-part harmonies together. They have collaborated with other string players from the area. You’ll hear songs from Gospel to drinking to prison to the grave, with plenty of instrumental fiddle tunes.
