Join us for an evening of folk and metal in Youngstown, Ohio, as our friends in Osi and the Jupiter, Axioma, and Avowal venture on an east coast tour. The trio is joined by Vintergrav, a dark neo-folk artist, supporting his latest release, ‘Forest Hyms’ (2023), on House of Inkantation.
Hailing from the shadowy forests of Ohio, amongst the echoes of old songs dwell the haunting hymns of Osi and the Jupiter. Sean Kratz offers his multi-instrumental talent in honor of pagan traditions and in worshipful tribute to the peaceful finality of death. From its birth in 2015, the focus of the project has been on the spiritual connection between nature and the will of the old Gods—channeled through various representations of life, death, and rebirth. This connection speaks through these musical creations, resonating as wordless tributes to these nebulous yet fundamental concepts.
Joined by extreme metal bands Axioma and Avowal, the tour package incorporates extremity and tranquility, ambiance and annihilation to create an experience that reflects the contrast between light and shadow.
Axioma are an American dark metal group melding elements of post, death, and extreme metal. Formed in 2015, Axioma challenges the accepted formats for heavy music by carving a dismal yet progressive path through the soundscape. “Dissonance” is frequently used to describe the band that blends post-metal, sludge, and doom with blackened edges. The band’s nihilistic outlook shapes their writing style, with their latest record, Primal Descent, released via Stained Glass Torments in 2023.
Complimenting Axioma’s originality with a brash style of its own, Avowal is a chaotic blend of thrash, metal punk, and early death grind often lumped in the sludge category but not defined by it. Formed in 2019, the band released a full-length album and The Tower EP (2023). They are slated to record another full-length in 2024. With lyrical interpretations of life struggles and horrors through the lens of divination and Greek mythology, Avowal conceptualizes the internalization of the world’s brutality.
